I am the Mother of two teens and have been working in education for over seven years. I have been a military wife for 21 years and a substitute teacher for students from Elementary to High school since 2013. Education as a career has been rewarding, challenging and totally educational for me ! I love it.
The idea for a website began in February 2020 when lockdown started in Italy, where my family are currently living. The journey started with another site Our Virtual Backpack created to host a collection free resources to assist parents and educators during the pandemic and beyond. Literally a backpack of ideas. I found myself compiling lists of books for children and needed a place to showcase them. Our Virtual Bookmark was born. This website has been created to provide a stopping place to find discussion and ideas on the books your children should be reading.
Our Virtual Bookmark is a website containing well researched lists of children’s books and provides a forum for discussion for parents, guardians and educators to come and explore. “ConTEXTually yours” is our logo. What does that mean ? It means we would love you to get involved in any way you feel comfortable. If you have any ideas or suggestions for articles please do not hesitate to get in touch.

www.ourvirtualbookmark.com is a product of (OVB) www.ourvirtualbackpack.com (a more broad collection of free educational resources - a creation of the lockdowns and virtual-schooling of 2020). During the collection of resources for OVB, came a realization of just how important the messages we make available to the next generation are. Teachers, parents, guardians, older siblings, provide both the source and filter of information available to our youngsters in their early formative years, it is a wonderful, important... powerful role.
Books are poignant messages to the youngest who we lovingly sit on our knee or the carpet of a classroom and read too.
Let this site help you think about and choose carefully about the books your child reads.
